Brazilian butt lift surgery is a type of buttock augmentation which can create the appearance of natural enhancement to the shape of the buttocks because it uses the patient’s own fat harvested from another area of the body during liposuction. When performed together, liposuction and a butt lift procedure can create natural looking results and not the appearance of a butt implant. Liposuction can harvest fat from areas of the body such as the stomach, hips, and thighs. To contour the buttocks even more, liposuction can be performed once the butt lift surgery is complete as well.
Brazilian butt lift surgery is right for you if you have asymmetrical, small, or sagging buttocks. You must be at least 18 years of age and in good health to undergo Brazilian butt lift surgery, and you must also be able and willing to commit to proper after care.

You’ll meet with a plastic surgeon during a one on one consultation. They will examine your body, discuss your desired aesthetic goals, and make sure Brazilian butt lift is right for you. Your surgeon will be sure to outline the full pre- and postoperative process so you know exactly what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
When you check in to the surgery center, you will fill out a few forms before entering the surgery preparation room. Once changed into your surgery gown, a nurse will insert an IV and begin a saline drip to prepare your body for anesthesia. When it’s time for surgery, you will be taken into the operating room and then given medication through your IV so that you are unconscious during surgery. It will feel like you’ve only been asleep for a few minutes, but the full surgery will take anywhere from 3-6 hours depending on your surgical plan. You will wake up from surgery in a comfortable recovery room surrounded by our attentive postoperative team. It will take about an hour to fully recover from anesthesia.
Your surgical team will provide detailed after care instructions following your Brazilian butt lift surgery. It is very important to follow these instructions. Failing to do so can result in serious postoperative complications.
Immediately following the procedure, you may have bruising and swelling in the areas used to harvest fat cells for transplant. If necessary, your pain can be managed with prescription medication. Every patient recovers differently from surgery, but most patients are up and walking a day or two after the procedure. Excess fluid may drain from the incision points, and it may be tinged with blood. This is completely normal and will cease a few days after surgery.
After the surgery, you will wear a compression garment over the areas where liposuction was performed. It is recommended that you wear this garment for eight weeks to ensure that areas where fat was harvested heal properly. The garment minimizes swelling, decreases discomfort, and helps the skin retract. Your compression garment may have the buttocks areas cut out so that your fat grafts have a chance solidify without being compressed.
Do not sit directly on your buttocks for at least eight weeks after the procedure. Sitting directly on the buttocks may effect blood circulation, and reduced blood circulation may destroy fat cells transferred to the buttocks during you procedure. You must sleep on your stomach or side. If you absolutely have to sit, it is recommended to use a donut pillow or inflatable pillow. Placing the pillow behind your legs is helpful to avoid putting pressure on the fat graft by raising the buttocks.
After the first eight weeks of recovery, it is important to still use a cushion when sitting. You must also avoid sitting for prolonged periods of time.
