Our state of the art liposuction procedure slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving your body contours and proportion. Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. A thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the incisions to loosen excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. The dislodged fat is suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum.
Liposuction is designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. Good candidates for liposuction are adults within 30% of their ideal weight who have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone.
You’ll meet with a liposuction specialist during a one on one consultation. They will examine your body, discuss your desired aesthetic goals, and make sure liposuction is right for you. Your surgeon will be sure to outline the full pre and postoperative process so you know exactly what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
Everyone’s body is different, so your liposuction specialist will work with you on the best treatment plan tailored to your needs. It may take as little as one procedure to achieve your goals. For some people, a customized treatment plan may include more than one liposuction procedure. Your specialist will provide a clinical recommendation of which areas should be treated and how many procedures you will need.
When you check in to the surgery center, you will fill out a few forms before entering the surgery preparation room. Once changed into your surgery gown, a nurse will insert an IV and begin a saline drip to prepare your body for anesthesia. When it’s time for surgery, you will be taken into the operating room and then given medication through your IV so that you are unconscious during surgery. It will feel like you’ve only been asleep for a few minutes, but the full surgery will take 2-4 hours depending on your surgical plan. You will wake up from surgery in a comfortable recovery room surrounded by our attentive postoperative team. It will take about an hour to fully recover from anesthesia.
After liposuction, patients wear special compression garments to help skin contract smoothly to the body’s new contours. Small, temporary drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove excess blood or fluid. 12 hours of bed rest is recommended immediately after the procedure, followed by three weeks of general recovery when strenuous activities should be avoided.
Results are immediately noticeable after liposuction and will continue to improve as the body heals. Final results are typically seen within four months.
