VBeam Perfecta is a safe, quick, and easy office procedure that takes 15-30 minutes depending on the areas being treated. For your comfort during the treatment, you may be given a topical or injectable anesthetic. You will be asked to wear eye protection to shield your eyes from the light emitted by the laser. A skin care specialist will glide the laser applicator over the area and deliver chilled air to the skin. As the applicator delivers laser energy in tiny bursts, you will feel a heated prickling sensation and hear a sound that resembles radio static. Once treatment is complete, a nurse will apply a cool gel to the treated area.
You may experience redness and swelling for a few hours after VBeam Perfecta treatment. Patients are able to go back to work immediately following the procedure. Even though you are able return to regular activities, it is important to follow the after care instructions given to you by your provider. Failure to do so may delay or diminish the results of VBeam Perfecta laser treatment.
Your provider will give you detailed instructions about your specific skin care needs. You may receive a prescription for special creams or gels to maximum the results of VBeam Perfecta laser treatment.
We recommend using SPF protection twice a day following the treatment for several months and especially during times with sun exposure. Apply a moisturizing sunblock with an SPF of at least 30. For at least six months after treatment, avoid being in the sun as much as possible.
Depending on the condition being treated, you may need anywhere from 3-6 treatments for optimal results. The darker the pigmentation, the more treatments you will need. Maintenance treatments one to two times a year are often necessary to maintain results, especially if sun is not avoided or proper skin care is not used.
