Botox Treatments

The only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.

What is Botox Cosmetic?

Botox Cosmetic is a prescription neurotoxin medication that is injected into muscles to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe facial lines. It works by blocking the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions, resulting in softer facial creases. Botox Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of a highly purified botulinum toxin protein refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum.

Which parts of the body can Botox Cosmetic treat?

Botox Cosmetic can be used to reduce the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead creases, drooping mouth corners, and lines around the eyes, also known as crow’s feet. It can also be used to treat severe underarm sweating.

How does Botox Cosmetic work?

Botox targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles with Botox Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your facial lines.

Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating. Botox is injected superficially with a tiny needle directly into underarm tissue, blocking the nerve impulse from reaching that area. As a result, the sweat glands are inactivated, and sweat is not produced in the treated area.

Is Botox Cosmetic right for me?

Botox Cosmetic is a safe and effective treatment for adult men and women of all ages. It is particularly helpful for people who want to avoid invasive surgical procedures. Do not take Botox if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in Botox. You should also not take Botox if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

What will happen on my Botox Cosmetic treatment day?

The Botox Cosmetic injection process takes about 15 minutes depending on where and how much Botox will be injected. For crow’s feet, your specialist will inject three areas of muscle that frame the side of the eye. This will be repeated in the muscle framing the other eye.

For the frown line area, your specialist will administer five injections into muscles in the forehead, one in the procerus muscle and four in the corrugator muscles.

When Botox Cosmetic is used to treat excessive sweating, it is injected superficially with a tiny needle directly into underarm tissue. Some patients report that being injected with Botox Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your skin care specialist may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, your skin care specialist may also apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

After your Botox Cosmetic treatment, you can immediately resume regular activities.

How many Botox treatment sessions will I need?

Botox Cosmetic lasts up to four months, and most patients return for their next treatment as soon as they begin to their fine lines and wrinkles reappear.

How soon will I see the results of Botox Cosmetic and how long does it last?

You will begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to four months.
